On December 23rd, 2010, the Wildlife Center received an adult male Bufflehead that had been found injured on the road in San Jose.

This beautiful sea-duck came in with puncture wounds on his neck and a high temperature. Our animal care staff was able to treat him at our hospital, and he recovered in one of our duck enclosures.

After over a month of care, on February 5th, 2011, one of our caring volunteers released this Bufflehead back into the wild at Lake Cunningham. The weather was beautiful and the release was picture perfect for this handsome bird.
