The Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley offers educational programs to help our community better understand our local wildlife.
Need a keynote speaker for your event? Terrific for luncheons or meetings, we offer a one hour version of our classroom presentation for adult groups.
Consider holding a "walk and talk" at a local park or in your school field. There, educators will point out various species that may be living along our route and discuss how to live in harmony with our "wild neighbors." This type of presentation ulitzes interactive exhibits to tell a story and share the Wildlife Center's work.
Our booths include photographs of some of our cases along with educational literature and children's activities. Staffed by one or two volunteers, these booths make a great addition to community events and fairs.
Consider a custom presentation to fit your needs. Contact WCSV to discuss ideas.
Classroom presentations cover basic information about the animals that live in our neighborhoods and the importance each species plays in our ecosystem. We talk about what to do if you find a sick, injured or orphaned wild animal and the reasons behind many of the animal cases we see. The presentation continues with a slide-show explaining the rehabilitation process and ends with a question and answer period. Each student is given educational literature to take home. This presentation can be customized for assemblies as well.
Bring your classroom to ours. WCSV's training room can accommodate up to 25 students. Our lobby includes ecucational exhibits and many pictures of the species we work with.
FAQs
No. All animals under our care are truly wild and we need to keep them that way by restricitng their interaction with humans. In addition, the animals we help are sick, injured or orphaned and the presence of humans, even if you're "just looking" is a stressful event for a wild animal which will impact its recovery and successful release back into the wild.
Yes. As a non-profit, our base funding goes towards the running of our organization and food and medicine for the animals. Therefore we ask for a donation to help pay for our educations programs and supplies. Program fees start at $50.00. This fee includes a one-year membership to SCSV. Scholarships are available for low-income organizations and schools.
From booth duty to classroom presentations we are always looking for volunteers to join our educational outreach team.
