Carmel began her work in wildlife rehabilitation in April 1993 at the Humane Society of Santa Clara and later that year became one of the founding members of WCSV. In July 2000, Carmel was hired by the Wildlife Center as the Office Manager, and then in February of 2002 she became the Animal Care Coordinator working full time with the animals where her "true passion lies." Carmel oversees the care of thousands of birds and mammals each year. Besides spending much of her time in our examination and treatment rooms, she assists in the planning of our site enclosures, trains volunteers, and ensures overall quality care of our cases. Carmel has composed and teaches a curriculum of state approved and required continuing education in wildlife rehabilitation for all animal care personnel. She has attended several state, national and international conferences on wildlife rehabilitation.
